THIS DAY IN HISTORY: On October 3, 1849, Edgar Allan Poe was found delirious in a gutter in Baltimore. He died four days later on October 7.

His last words were "Lord, help my soul."

Alcohol poisoning was thought to be the cause of death, although in recent years, there has been speculation about other causes, including rabies!

The boundaries which divide Life from Death are at best shadowy and vague. Who shall say where the one ends, and where the other begins?
