Among his many accomplishments, Roerich designed the sets and costumes for the first production of Igor Stravinsky's Rite of Spring and designed art for Russian Orthodox Churches throughout Russia and Ukraine. He was a fervent student of the Vedantist teachings of Ramakrishna, Swami Vivekananda, Rabindranath Tagore and the Bhagavad Gita. Based on his personal research conducted in India and Tibet, Roerich was convinced that Jesus had spent years traveling and studying in India, a theory he proposed in his book Heart of Asia and Altai-Himalaya.
