On June 18, 1815, Napoleon met his Waterloo. Bogged down in rain and mud, Napoleon's 80,000 French troops were defeated by 67,000 British, Belgian and Prussian infantrymen led by Arthur Wellesley, Duke of Wellington. By the end of the day, 47,000 men had died and Napoleon was forced to abdicate for a second time.
