PRAIRIE VILLAGE NATIVE SOARS IN ‘GROUNDED”

Ben Bliss featured in Metropolitan Opera Production

Prairie Village native Ben Bliss is featured in the Metropolitan Opera’s new production of GROUNDED, an opera by the multi Tony-nominated Jeanine Tesori. It tells of a pilot who struggles to adapt to drone warfare, while struggling to be the perfect soldier, the perfect mother and the perfect wife. Bliss plays her handsome ranch hand husband.

Opera Wire says that Bliss has a “voice to soar with verismo-like lines,” and the New York Classical Review says that he sang “in a heartfelt, unmannered characterization.”

Kansas City will have a chance to see GROUNDED live from the Met on the big screen Saturday, Oct. 19 at noon at the Cinemark 20, 5500 Antioch Road and the Town Center 20, 11701 Nall Ave. Town Center 20 will also present two encore performances Oct. 23 at 1 p.m. and 6 p.m. For more information, visit metopera.org.
